This year, two classes of our catering school took part in the detective story Festival of Saint Quentin. “POLAR DANS LA VILLE”

  • The cooks of the first class prepared dishes taken from detective novels and they created a leaflet presenting each book in English and the recipes that were in. This leaflet was placed on the tables to inform the customers.
  • The waiters and waitresses of the first class decided to organise a murder party :
A murder had been committed in the restaurant and we could see the silhouette of the victim on the ground.
Each table had a riddle to solve to find out a clue leading to the identity of the murderer.
They also had a list of suspects with their fake identities. (The suspects were the waiters and waitresses themselves)
Once a table had its clue, it was put on board to inform the rest of the customers.
The waiter and waitresses had accessories on them to help the clients (like packet of cigarettes, belt, or purple make up for girls etc...)
During the end of the meal, each table gave the name of the murderer. And at the end, the winner was the first table to give the right name. And all this was in English !
The customers were enthusiastic and they all participated to the game.
  • The waiters and waitresses of the second class, stencilled the tables with words like “crime, killer, murder…etc” in red letters on black table cloth.
The cooks on their part indicated the ingredients composing each dish ; they were printed on red victim silhouettes and placed next to the dishes themselves.
